The Station at Hollingbourne

A community space, cafe and shop for Hollingbourne village and neighbouring areas

In 2023 The Station at Hollingbourne was rejuvenated into a beautiful new space for the local community, available as a multi-use hub that includes a versatile hall and cafe space, which will also be used for a community shop/ market, and regular events such as a pop-up cinema, games group, heritage society, book exchange and more.

The old station ticket office and booking hall had been disused for more than 32 years, falling into disrepair. With the vision of what it might again be, and the very generous support of key benefactors - both during the renovation phase and since - The Station at Hollingbourne now operates as a not-for-profit enterprise which aims to improve social inclusion and community integration.

The Station is run as a Community Interest Company with a governing board of committed local people. We are committed to meet the need for a social space in the village, bringing together many interest groups and ages within the village, and visitors who use the essential Hollingbourne transport hub to walk or cycle the Hollingbourne’s AONB via the North Downs and the Pilgrims Way, and indeed Leeds Castle.

We encourage artisans to use The Station at Hollingbourne as a hub to display their craft or produce, which we plan to showcase as much as possible within The Signal Box Cafe and The Pantry (community shop coming soon).

“We went to Signal Box this morning for breakfast - it was totally brilliant. Best toastie I’ve had in ages, possibly ever (am a toastie connoisseur!). Lovely warm, friendly atmosphere - we chatted to loads of people - it was like a club! ”

“We cannot wait to use the shop. We have really missed this in the village, and the chance to catch up with neighbours for a chat will be great. The station looks fantastic. We love the heritage colours! ”
